Newlands Valley: 6/7th October

Post by Simon »

Mercians,

Our next meet will take place in the Lake District in Carlise MC, Newlands Valley Hut

Map: http://binged.it/SlXh1O
Website: http://www.carlislemc.co.uk/club-hut

There are 16 places, and the cost will be £16/person for the weekend.

This basic hut is 1 mile from the road, you can drive there, but it's down an unsurfaced track. There is no electricity, but there is gas powered cooking and lighting and a stove for heating, and a flushing toilet.

Booked so far:
  • Simon H
  • Vicki
  • Steve N
  • Rab
  • Jim
  • Sarah
  • CJ
  • Malcolm
  • Roland
  • Chris B
  • Geoff
  • Lynn
4 places remaining

I'm not sure you've cut out for a job in advertising. :)

Count me in though.

Mercians,

Simon is absolutely right when he says this is a basic hut but don't be put off by that. Its in a delightful spot up a quiet valley. If the weather bucks up its ideal for a barbeque after a hard days cragging.

Speaking of crags Shepherds Crag( Little Chamonix etc.) is not far away and also Troutdale Pinnacle a 375 foot Severe Classic Rock tick. There are also more obscure crags right in the valley above the hut. For walkers there is Dale Head, Robinson and Hindscarth which can be combined into a circular walk.

The Swinside Inn serves real ales and food and Keswick is just up the road for those requiring teashops and retail therapy. The is mountain biking in the Forestry Commission area at Whinlatter Pass and probably elsewhere as well.

So come on sign up and give it a go!

Alan :D

Hi All,

I'll be down the pub tomorrow night with the key if anyone who's leaving before 7 would like to collect it.

Would it be tempting fate and do as Alan suggests and have summer's last BBQ?

Weather looks promising:

Only thing is I don't have a BBQ, I do strangely enough have some charcoal I could bring!

I've got one of those little bucket bbqs but it won't feed many.
