Tan Yr Wyddfa, Rhyd Ddu - 3 to 5 march

Post by Adam »

Hello Mercians

2017 is cracking on at a pace, we are now on meet number 3. It will be at Tan Yr Wyddfa, Rhyd Ddu (pronounced Wreath Dee, not sure how that works) on the west side of Snowdon. This is one of Vics favorite huts, so it should be good.

What is there to do? What isn't there to do!
Hike. The Nantlle Ridge, with views of the sea and snowdon. Or Snowdon by any of the south or west paths.
Bike. Ride to the summit of Snowdon by the Ranger path or Rhyd Ddu path.
Climb. Go with Joe to smash your way up Indian Face (E9,6c) on Cloggy. Or for the mortals, Tremadog is just down the road and often has better weather.
(Steam Train. There is a station for the Welsh Highland Railway 100m from the hut. Every meet needs a steam train.)

Price is £10 per night. 16 spaces.

Hut Info - http://www.oread.co.uk/index.php/snowdonia-hut
Hut Address - https://www.sakmc.org/venues/huts/41-tan-yr-wyddfa?r=1

Time to sign up.

Ahhh, glad you've signed up Joel (Team Taylor) Taylor.....

I have an idea...... a run along the Nantlle Ridge... 15km and some big ups and downs

Sounds marvellous. Bring your trainers Joel (and anyone who fancies). In the meantime I'll try and find out exactly how much of it is runnable :)

Looks like winter has returned in a big way, due to continue this week. I'll be bringing crampons and twin axes!
