Hello Mercians

No sooner do you get back from one meet, than there's another one to book on to. This time its George Starkey in Patterdale, a Mercian staple.

We all know Helvellyn is just over the road, but what else is there. You could head in the opposite direction to Place Fell, go scrambling on St Sunday crag, hire a boat on Ullswater, nip round to Borrowdale for some rock climbing. Plenty to keep a Mercian entertained.

I don't need a bed but will come up for a walk on Saturday if anyone fancies a reasonably easy hike.

Does anyone remember if there's much phone reception near the hut (so I can call/text to see what plans are)?
