Re: Stargazing

A pleasant evening, I got a bit fed up in the queue for the 10" Schmidt-Cassegrain but thoroughly enjoyed bumbling about the paths in the dark (from choice, I had a headtorch!)

How about a night meet sometime, Stiperstones in the dark, no torches allowed?

Re: Stargazing

I always use the carparking area adjacent to Walton Hill which doesn't get locked - many people think that the hill with the four stones is the high point, it isn't, the high point is Walton Hill which is a Marilyn and G/CE-002 for Summits on the Air. Anyway, I assume that this event won't take plac...

Re: New Year Meet: 29th December - 2nd January

Ali, you didn't say which nights! We've had two drop out for tomorrow night so there will be spare if needed. Just about to set off north, we haven't been to the Coe for an amazing thirty years so I'm as excited as a kid at Xmas! :smt081 BUT: the Glencoe forecast is for five days of rain - a pity, t...

Re: New Year Meet: 29th December - 2nd January

As table space is in short supply will it help if I bring a camping table and some folding chairs? I can't remember how much space there is but if it will fit we can seat four more.

I hope the hotel bar just down the road is as good as it used to be! :drinkers:

Another point to add to Simon's: sunrise is 09:00, for a long day you have to start before the sun is up!

Put us down for Winter Warmer, please, do you serve it with rice or stick loaf bread?

Re: Go Outdoors

Nice to have one in Brum - mind you, from Hall Green it probably isn't any easier to reach than the one in Coventry!

Re: Go Outdoors

Interesting, the address is Tyburn road but the map seems to show it on the Kingsbury road, I wonder which is right?

That's fine with us, but do you mean Wednesday or Thursday night? Would you like us to provide dessert?

Re: New Year Meet: 29th December - 2nd January

There is nothing on this board about volunteering for chef of the day! Pauline and I are willing to do a day, too.

We are travelling up on Tuesday and overnighting at a Travelodge so will be at the hut by lunchtime Wednesday - if the roads are passable!

SOTA is Invading North America!

There are now 54 Associations in 36 countries with several about to come on-line in Australia and South America. Not bad in just under ten years from its first beginnings in England and Wales! :D

Re: New Year Meet: 29th December - 2nd January

Will a cheque be acceptable, Simon? I'll be in West Sussex on Thursday and may be short of time to get cash!

Cheers
