A Good Day Out!

Post by Ham Brian »

A good day out by even the most exacting standards by John Earnshaw, ham radio callsign G4YSS, of Scarborough, a retired avionics engineer.

07:43 today started operating from the summit of Helvellyn, SOTA summit G/LD-003. Finished and started packing away his gear at 08:15.
10:07 started operating from the summit of Seat Sandal, G/LD-022, finished and started packing away about 10:48.
12:31 started operating from the summit of Fairfield, G/LD-007, finished and started packing away about 13:15.
14:39 started operating from the summit of St Sunday Crag, G/LD-010, finished and started packing away at about 16:00.

Finding that he had sufficient daylight left, he went back to his car and drove north to activate Little Mell Fell, G/LD-037 from 17:58 until 18:18.

I will give more details when he publishes his activation report on the SOTA Reflector, but he earned 34 points plus 15 points winter bonus, which will be difficult to better in the UK! Note that in the process he spent a total of something like four hours sitting on summits.
Only in silence the word, only in dark the light, only in dying life: bright the hawks flight in the empty sky.
