Dunmail Raise: 18/19th Feb

Post by Simon »

Mountaineers,

I have great pleasure in announcing the location of the next meet as Dunmail Raise (Close to Grasmere in the Lake District) the hut is in an ideal location for tackling Helvellyn from the North. As I drove past the Lakes this afternoon, the hills looked very white and wintry from the M6, the general consensus from the weather forecasters is that the cold weather is set to stay around for a while, so this has the potential to be a great winter meet!

The hut is huge, so there are 38 beds available. £18 for the weekend.

Don't delay, get signed up today!

Also include Brian and Pauline - will it be OK to stay Sunday night?

To Justin, John and Duncan,

Could the 4 of us travel together or should it be 2 off 2s?
I can be very flexible about timing.

Hi guys, unfortunately I have to pull out of this meet, in the middle of decorating the bathroom and it's like a building site at the minute, sorry guys. Have fun!

Does anybody want cheese and biscuits for desert?? I might even push the boat out and bring grapes.
Stilton / brie / mature cheddar, the usual stuff.
Let me know by Friday morning -
Bring your own port -

Has anyone lost a Mountainlite "hiker" walking pole, we found one on the bench under the big table in the dining area, I vaguely remember seeing somebody put it there.

Monday morning a surveyor arrived and proceded to measure the place up, he had been instructed by an estate agent, so this might be the last ever meet at this hut - and guys, Sunday was one of those all-too-rare "perfect days"! Hard cheese!

It'll be a shame if they do sell it as it's a really nice hut. :(
