26th/27th July - Wye Valley/Wintours Leap

Post by Stew »

Hey dudes,

Well, it’s only 4 days away, so here’s my starter-for-10 for this meet.

Vic and I plan on attending Simon and Jodie’s leaving do on the Friday night and heading down to the Wye Valley on Saturday morning, so we'll be camping for just one night. We’ll be camping at Beeches Farm (http://beechesfarmcampsite.co.uk).

My thoughts are to go to a good little cafe I know near Monmouth for a fry up (let's call it brunch), and then finish the drive to the camp site and pitch the tents by about 1-2pm. I'd then plan to climb at Shorncliffe on Saturday afternoon and early evening as it's only a short walk from the camp site so long as you don't get lost (let’s get the most out of these light nights too eh?), and then climb at Wintours Leap on the Sunday.

Maybe we'll see you there.

Stew.

Beeches Farm is apparently now fully booked. Not sure if any Mercians got in there.

The overflow site is Cherry Tree Farm (http://www.cherryorchardfarm.co.uk). I've just spoken to the owner, he has loads of room, so no need to book. He suggests we turn left as we enter and go to the far end of the field where there is more room for groups to be together (not in that way!).

Laters,
