Pen Ceunant Uchaf, Llanberis 16 - 18 Jan

Happy New Year!

The first meet of the year is now open for booking. The location is Llanberis - perfect for walking, scrambling, climbing (if the weather is kind), mountain biking and also plenty of wet weather options such as slate mines, zip wires, gear shops and cafes in the local area. Not too far a drive from Brum, this is the ideal meet for those wanting to kick start their New Year's resolutions to get out into the hills.

And as the 25th Jan is Burns night, there is always the option for eating or addressing the odd haggis if anyone is keen to volunteer.......

Please sign up below

Location: Pen Ceunant Uchaf Llanberis (owned by Chester Mountaineering Club) - directions attached and on the forum

Cost: £8.50 per person, per night

Spaces: 18 available

Key details: I will bring the key to the walk on Thurs

Note information from hut warden on water (boiling the water should be fine for drinking): We get our water from a reservoir and it's usually treated with uv and tested on a regular basis to ensure it reaches safe drinking water standards. Our latest results showed low levels of e.coli in the water from the kitchen. As such you are advised to boil the water from the kitchen before drinking it.

The water in the bathroom is fine. When you arrive there should be signs up by the sinks to remind people. We would recommend that you consider taking bottled water for your stay.

Anyone taking a bike if the weather is a bit iffy? I've still not done Penmachno, or anything else in Snowdonia for that matter. Could be a good Sunday option.

I could be tempted, I need to get back on the horse. I probably wouldn't jump straight onto a red trail though

Count me in please Jules. And stick me down for the food please Karl. Stew, I wouldn't mind a bit of red trail, but didn't bring my bike back down to England so will have to pass.

Joe, Huw has always tried to get people to agree to go down a red route on the tandem with him so that might solve your lack of bike problem. :)

Vic - 'oh my days', as the yoof say, the tandem sounds epic. Karl - if you don't find anyone more Scottish I might be convinced to do the toast tae the haggis. Can't promise it'll be any good though.

One year we rang Ross' dad and had him do it over the phone!
