High House, Seathwaite Borrowdale, 16-18 Feb

Post by Adam »

Hello Mercians

The next meet is at High House in Borrowdale. This is a nice hut ideally located for access to the higher mountains in the Lake District. Great Gable is 3km, and Scarfell Pike a 5km walk from the hut. If winter conditions are in, Great End is just over an hour away for some ice climbing. If its not quite so cold you could traverse some of the higher Lake District mountains, climb at Shepherd crag. Personally if winter is out, I'll be heading round to do the all weather Corvus on Raven crag. The possibilities are endless.

The huts a goodun' too. Plenty of space, good kitchen and living room, red hot coal fires, 26 beds, and showers.

Price is £11/night. 26 spaces. Sign up quick, we all know those 26 beds will be gone in next to no time.

Soooo lets start the car sharing conversation....... I am happy to drive and am already giving Vic Moody a lift home on the way back from the Lakes. However I could do with some company on the way up (and back if you don’t mind sharing the back seat with Vic!)

I will be leaving from Sutton around 6:30-7pm

Any takers?

I could definitely do with a lift, though if there is a south Birmingham contingent driving up that might be a bit easier.

I'm also working from home in the day so could leave 4pm onwards.

Any takers?

I'm also happy to cook if there are no other volunteers - probably something simple like a chilli.

Well, I am happy to drive or be driven! My poxy fiesta can probably fit 3 (depending on kit levels).

I was probably going to skive off work on Friday (TOIL to burn), so would prefer to leave early.

Also, I am ashamed to say I don't think I have ever cooked on a meet. So, I am willing to offer the complex culinary delight of bangers& mash.

Saturday Bangers & Mash:

Louise
Julie
Karl
Vicki M
Stew
Adam

Naomi

Ed

Veggie bangers & mash:

Please can I have pancakes Vicky?

I'd definitely take you up on a lift and some bangers and mash.

How about I do pancakes for pudding?
