Lakes Camping - CANCELLED - 6th - 8th Nov

Post by VickyHiggs »

Now CANCELLED due to lockdown :(

Rescheduled due to appalling weather forecast. Sadly I can't go anymore :( but hopefully it will be glorious for the rest of you.

Hello Mercians,

The Annual Dinner weekend is nearly upon us. Packing 15 hungry Mericans round a pub table is out this year for obvious reasons, but we are still allowed to go camping so we are proposing a little trip up to the Lakes for those that are up for braving the rain and howling winds.

We are heading for Sykeside Farm near Hartsop:

https://sykeside.co.uk/

Fires allowed to warm yourself (BYO Fire Pit) and a pub next door if it is really soggy. Strictly 1 household per table obvs.

Usual rules apply - book your own camping, follow the social distancing rules and don't turn up if you think you might have Covid. Risk assessment and guidelines are attached and I will send round the survey link to those attending next week.

I'm keen. I'll take a look at the weather 4 days ahead and if its looking ok I'll book on. Keen to bike over Helvellyn if anyone else is interested.

I'm similar. Waiting for the forecast before I book anything, but as long as it's not horrific then me and Matt will head up

Just a heads up that people will probably want to take the afternoon off you head up as I notice that last arrival is 8pm and we all remember the mad rush we had to make 9pm that time. :)

I'm keen as long as the weather looks good on Saturday. Will bring my bike; not sure I'm skilled up for Helvellyn I'll leave that to others to decide else I'll go to winlatter or similar.

That's a bit strict, I might be able to get away a touch early but it will depend. Is this a campsite for locals?

So it says 20:00 on the FAQ but 22:30 in the terms and conditions.

"Arrival
We will not accept late arrivals as it disturbs other campers so please leave sufficient travel time to arrive by 10.30pm.

You must check in at either the campsite shop, or at The Brotherswater Inn when the shop is closed before pitching on the campsite."

I'm keen, really need to get out of Brum for a wknd! And not working. Beth is a maybe due to work.

I cant take the afternoon off, I'm on site in Sth Wales. I'm sure i can quietly put up the tent after curfew if there are traffic problems. Endless sodding rules. If only they could all be like Talymignedd!

I hope they are just trying to discourage late arrivals loudly trying to work out what pole goes where while necking bottles of cider.

The weather looks very grim. Based on the current forecast of wall to wall rain I'll bail, but I'll give it another day or two yet.

Same thoughts, weather warning ect. I wonder if there would be any merit in rolling over to next weekend?
